In the late 1970's former drag racer, Gary Turner began to weld chromoly BMX race frames in his garage for his son. Soon a hobby turned into an obsession, and in 1979 Turner and engineer Richard Long combined forces to officially start GT Bicycles in Santa Ana, California (GT comes from Gary Turner). The company quickly became known for making premium BMX racing machines and it would pave the way for them to grow to industry leader status in the years to come. |
Schwinn is the American icon that has built some of the best-known and most-loved bicycles of all time. Started in October of 1895, Ignaz Schwinn revolutionized cycling in the early days! Within only a few short years, the company became an acknowledged technical and quality leader of the bicycle industry. In fact, after just a year in business, Schwinn bikes had more race victories than any other bike company at the time. |
